The trek there is grueling, either by ski or truck, but the payoff is great. You'll want to wear your best tool watch for the trek.Phillips has rolled out the highlights for this year's dessert menu from its New York Watch Auction: Seven, to be held December 10 and 11. They might not steal the show from an entrée like the George Daniels Spring Case Tourbillon we'll see in Geneva next month, but that's just fine. In January, we got a new Defy Skyline Skeleton, with an openworked blue or black dial (and semi-skeletonized movement) in a stainless steel case. Eventually, we got that new skeletonized form in a black ceramic case with an interchangeable bracelet. Knowing Zenith's design roadmap, you might have guessed this new release was coming, but the new white ceramic Defy Skyline Skeleton is a looker.

He is also the first of his brothers to go pro.Moving away from Patek and fast-forwarding 40 years, I offer a Blancpain in a very classically sized case to bridge the gap. With perpetual calendar and chronograph complications, the ref. 5585 packs a ton into a small, 34mm by 11mm thick package. As the seller rightly notes, this model was the thinnest perpetual chrono on the market, thinner than Patek's manually-wound ref. 3970, and the Blancpain is automatic!
In practice, the result is even better than on paper. The square case tapers at the edges, making the watch wear even thinner than it already is, and the visual effect makes it appear smaller on the wrist too. The shaping of the corners has been handled with extreme finesse, and the result is something with both elegance and energy. The short lugs are another nice touch, and Mobile Data Streaming Trends they're placed such that they don't really interrupt the already complex geometry of the case.Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 (includes secondary low-power processor for time-only mode)RAM: 1 GB Storage: 8 GBSensors: Heart rate, GPS, barometerBattery Life: Full day of normal useAdditional Details: In time-only mode, Montblanc iBrand: MontblancModel: Summit 2 SmartwatchDiameter: 42mmThickness: 14.3mmCase Material: Stainless steel (with or without DLC finish) or titanium Display: 1.2 inch AMOLED display with curved sapphire crystalWater Resistance: 50 metersStrap/Bracelet: Leather, rubber, nylon, and steel mesh strap optionsThis week's lineup has something for everyone. For the Rolex-curious among you, HODINKEE EIC Jack Forster talks about how to choose between an OP and a Sub, if you really seriously think you're not just going to get both if the chance presents itself. We also look at what, exactly, constitutes real advances in watchmaking, and why, if you are a precision fetishist, that ship sailed long ago.
