The government’s new “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme is launching on 3 August and will give diners the opportunity to enjoy 50 per cent off their meals at participating restaurants.

The scheme was launched as a bid to encourage the public to support the hospitality industry by going out to eat at local restaurants.

It will run from every Monday to Wednesday throughout the month and will entitle diners to half off their meals up to the value of £10 a head.

Alcohol is not included in the deal.

In order to claim your discount, you simply have to visit one of the participating restaurants within the timeframe.

The scheme means that a family of five can go out for dinner and have a meal worth £100 for £50.

The restaurants will then claim back the rest of the money from the government.

While any business serving food can sign up to the ”Eat Out to Help Out” scheme, there are a number of chain restaurants that have already announced their participation.
