– In Paris, if madame wants to buy a vintage watch, madame Metaverse Kitchen visits L'Horlogerie Pour Dames, on Rue Madame, where a French monsieur called Antoine has assembled a large collection of watches, all of them vintage and all of them just for her. I recently paid a visit to L'Horlogerie Pour Dames, and here's a look inside.The movement, which offers just hours, minutes, and the tourbillon, is based on the movement used in 2006's RM 012 Tourbillon, which would later win Aiguille d'Or at GPHG 2007. Along with a very technical unibody baseplate, the bridges of the movement are made from titanium and offer a buttressed architectural layout that works well with Richard Mille's usual application of skeletonized details.But as it turned out, it was the beginning of a great adventure that's lasted now more than 25 years and included a big amount of complications and inventions. While I always had a deep appreciation of what I would consider to be the maison's modern watchmaking era, the Arceau is just simply unabashedly classic Hermès. Despite not a single trace of pink or red on this watch (save for some of the rubies in the movement), to me this is what I want on the day of Cupid.
