Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I work full time in marketing but have always loved homes and interiors. I actually studied real estate for a bit but stayed with my marketing degree. However, last year I made the leap to go back to school to start an interior design program on the side. While it’s still just a hobby for me, I hope to turn it into something bigger! In the meantime, I’ll keep finessing this wonderful home and lending my passion to friends and family.

I purchased this home when I was 22 in a lovely older neighborhood near trails that blossomed into lots of great dining and nightlife. I love this neighborhood and everyone is so friendly.

This house was purchased as-is and needed a lot of work. I’ve worked through structure fixes, lead paint removal, new HVAC, new roof, and it’s is in need of some major landscaping and new windows. However, the layout and location is perfect. I hope to spend this year working on the exterior and then eventually, my dream project is my kitchen. I added new flooring in there and so it’s cute and works great for now.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Transitional 1915 Brick Craftsman Bungalow

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is the lower sunroom. It’s west-facing, and I’ve overloaded it with plants, books, and lots of coziness. I curl up there in the mornings with my coffee, my laptop and a beer in the afternoons, and tea and a good book in the evenings. Truly a perfect place to relax, get work done, or just gaze out overlooking the neighborhood (something the cat is quite fond of).

Any advice for creating a home you love? It’s a process! My style has evolved so much over the years. I have always lived in older homes and apartments and stuck to the more traditional and browns to fit the space.

However, my taste is very different and so I’ve found ways to incorporate more color and finding more of my personal aesthetic. Usually I get inspired by one piece and then it’s a domino effect and I just let it roll.
