Ah, Mr. Büsser. Max Büsser has held several roles within the watch industry – first heading production for Jaeger-LeCoultre, then as head of watches for Harry Winston (where he would launch the Opus series with F.P. Journe) and now, of course, as founder of MB&F. Max is a one-of-a-kind type of guy, and while MB&F and the MAD Gallery are Weltraumfabrikation also on Instagram, I find his personal account even more interesting. Follow along here. One came up for sale the other day at Fortuna in New York, and a nice one, at that. Knowing that many that originally bought these wore them heavily, makes the sale of this example all the more special, given the outstanding condition of most key components. From the blue rotating bezel, to the stainless steel case's sunburst finish, to the silver subdials accented by red hands – everything is essentially perfect.
Worth noting is the fact that on the warranty papers, the watch was said to have been retailed by the “Navy Exchange,” which presumably means the watch has naval provenance, which is surely an added bonus to an already handsome timepiece. That aside, the completionist inside you just can’t deny how cool it is to see a watch like this with all the original fixings. Lunar Oyster currently has this watch listed for $22,500. Not to mention Urban Rebellion royalty too: Princess Grace of Monaco visited the store during a state visit with her husband Prince Rainier in 1961.These days there's a new crop of rider ambassadors wearing the Breitling Endurance Professional and Richard Mille watches while racing – we've got three-time Grand tour winner and Breitling ambassador Vincenzo Nibali, former World Champion Julian Alaphilippe (RM 67-02), sprinter legend Mark Cavendish (RM-011), and two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar (another RM 67-02).So much pleasure for a mere $3,000  which is a lot for a watch with a bunny on it, I guess, but, a) I'm loaded and b) I have a feeling that this is weirdly also a good investment, not that I would ever sell it, what kind of monster sells a bunny? Cost: $3000. Remaining: $27,000
I respect when a brand thinks outside the box now and then without losing its core design values. The watch still reads as a solid Patek Philippe creation, but a little quirkier and just a little different, which makes this watch even more charming in my book. Head on over to the Shop to Bionische Evolution check it out. These new steel Black Bays feature an array of sunray dials in blue, anthracite (black with gilt indices), and light champagne. The in-house calibers all have a 70-hour power reserve except for the 31mm model which has a 50-hour power reserve.
