- Activities designed for a group of fourth-year High School EFL students with a B1/B2 level of English. This lesson plan is meant to be cross-curricular, involving not only English as a Foreign Language (vehicular language), but also Tourism, Financial Education and Citizenship.

- This Lesson Plan is designed to develop learners' autonomy and collaboration, boost their sense of initiative, entrepreneurship and creativity.

Collaborate154Each group has to agree on 10 top features which are required to be successful when running a travel agency. The 5 entries will be posted in a Mentimeter poll which will later generate a word cloud showing the choices made by the students.

Collaborate604Each group is asked to simulate the business activity of a travel agency, setting up a business plan which takes into consideration fixed expenses, cost for human resources, etc. Each member must be assigned a precise role within the group. At the end of this activity they will have established their own virtual travel agency.

Discuss304Students will will receive feedback from an external expert (finance consultant) who will review their plans and provide advice.

Produce604Each group will produce two different holiday packages for language students based on real places and costs (plane fares, course fees, etc.) providing also some type of marketing material to advertise them. They can choose any medium or tool they want (website, infographic, pamphlet, video, etc.). They all have one fixed requirement: all the travel packages must be sustainable.

Produce1520The whole class of students is required to prepare another Google Form which simulates a reservation form where they will insert all the 10 packages in order to allow their peers to make actual reservations.

Practice75Each group will be given 15 minutes' time to illustrate and advertise their offers to the other students of the school. This will also give the students a good opportunity to practise their speaking and presentation skills in a foreign language. At the end of all the presentations, the "customers" use the provided Google Form to choose their favourite package and provide detailed and constructive feedback to their peers.
