Lot 30 in the Royal Oak 50th Anniversary Auction is the only Royal Oak without a traditional crown on the watch's caseband; instead, it's placed on the caseback. The Royal Oak Tourbillon ref. 25831 was created for the model's 25th anniversary in 1997 (man, I feel old). This model is part of the very first batch of Royal Oaks with a tourbillon, and it was produced in a run of 25 pieces in steel with a blue dial.As a basic unit of sport watch, the Atlas does this well, though I feel it lacks the personality of something like a white dial Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Anti Surveillance Tech (while also noting my bias for white dials).Then, in the mid-1990s, we get to the tilted logo, seen in both the ref. 14000 and the ref. 14010, the same Air-King, just with an engine-turned bezel (this is the logo seen in photos throughout this article). Despite my affection for the ref. 5500, the tilted logo is my favorite flavor, the perfect amount of playful for America's favorite pizza delivery chain. In 2000, Rolex replaced the 14000 references with the 14000 and 14010m – same as before, just with an updated caliber 3130.

While this one has been polished, the lugs remain substantial, which is good to see.
