PRE-VISIT ACTIVITIES
90 minutes)
-
Investigate4520A few days before the visit, three students get their assignments: to search through the website of one of the museums and write 5 questions for the museum guide. They become 'experts' for these museums.
-
Read Watch Listen1520On the day of the visit, one teacher monitors the lesson held by those three students. The teacher writes KWL table on the board (K - what I already know about the topic, W - what I would like to know about the topic, L - what I have learned about the topic). The students are given the topic ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM. They individually write anything they know about it on sticky papers. The student holding the lesson puts them in column K.
-
Collaborate20Students are given a paper with several offered items about the artefacts which one might find in an ethnographic museum. In groups of 3-4, student circle possible answers. The 'expert' shows the website and others tick on their paper their answers which were correct. A short discussion follows.
-
Produce10Students individually write what more they would like to know about this museum on a sticky paper and put the paper in column W. They copy that on a separate paper or take a photo of it with their mobile phone.
