Regina police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating the death of a 52-year-old woman whose body was found on the doorstep of a vacant house in the North Central neighbourhood this week.

According to a Regina Police Service (RPS) news release issued Wednesday, at approximately 3:45 a.m. Tuesday police responded to the 1300 block of Angus Street for a report of a person slumped on a doorstep. A resident who phoned police reported they were not breathing.

EMS also attended and confirmed the woman was deceased. Police secured the scene and requested the coroner, as well as the forensic identification and major crimes units.

Police officers also canvassed the neighbourhood and searched for any video surveillance footage that could help in the investigation.

The woman’s identity was confirmed later that morning and police have notified her family. Police are not releasing the woman’s name at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the woman’s death is being led by the coroner.

Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to contact the RPS at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Two other deaths in the city are also under investigation.

On Sunday morning, a man’s body was found near Wascana Marina. A second body was found near the CP Rail tracks, near the Ring Road on 6th Avenue and Park Street, on Monday morning. In both cases, police said the deaths do not appear to be criminal.
