Traveling with kids is challenging. It's not possible to trust the internet on top of an mountain. I prefer to prepare at the comfort of my home.
It's true, I told you.. My children believe the WiFi at the highest point of the mountain is a source of weak signals. It's just a small hill. However, it is within the normal range for cell phone networks. That means my kids will have to explore the area to discover better internet speeds as my wife and I set up an area for camping. We're planning to stay there for several days. The small creek nearby offers fresh water. Yes.. Our wife cannot travel without plenty of water. So, we always carry our own.
My children are now returning to social media, while I'm taking in the views. The hill isn't too large, but it's in the midst of much bigger ones. We visit this hill often to get closer to mother earth. Although I appreciate these trips however, it's not my goal to lead them. My wife is the one who insists on doing this, perhaps partly due to the fact that she knows how much I love being in the wild. My children are completely different. Internet can sometimes go down. The interruption to streaming music may be because of something happening in the clouds, or possibly magnetic movement. It is a problem for me as I typically find myself hearing everything.
We made the choice to prepare after having a few gruelling travels without internet where the internet connection on our phones wasn't functioning properly. We, i.e. my wife and me, had prepared for the event that our kids won't have access to internet for more that 10 minutes. So we created 2 sources of entertainment that never stop even when Internet is not accessible during our camping excursions. Another was a tablet containing music videos and current chart top songs. Our preferred Youtube MP3 converter was able to help us remove songs from video clips and convert them into an mp3 file and download onto the tablet. It was also able use playlists, which means it was extremely fast, even though it sounds terrible. If you're experiencing boredom or sadness you could listen to music, watch videos, and - lucky for us all! - listen to sound via headphones with blue tooth. It's pretty cool, isn't it? This device does not make any sound.
The second tablet contained mainly animated TV shows, cartoons and movies that we had downloaded through Hulu and Netflix. The apps have offline storage so you can play them later. While the quality isn’t the best, it is sufficient enough to hold numerous seasons and cartoons such as Family Guy, Disenchantment, and Breaking Bad. The show was extremely entertaining, and very simple too.. Just install the apps, allow downloads for offline viewing and download episodes, mark the download date and then forget that the app will download them by itself. Tablet 2 was delivered one or 2 times in the time between tablet 1 and, but once it joined us at The Wild, my kids could not stop using it to watch shows and use it. A few DIY videos were created by me, such as building of a tent and making fresh-caught fish skins. These are the kinds of things you won't perform at home. These videos were copied from Youtube and converted into MP4 before being downloaded onto my tablet. It's easier to have video on your tablet even when you're working.
These 2 tricks have kept our children entertained on four family camping trips. They aren't afraid to leave the house any more as they are aware that tablets 2 can aid them in getting through the boring time and then return it home when they're ready. It is truly everything I desire - being with my family and friends.
