The Big Idea is: involve my children aged 10, to think and prepare their own Ravenna festival, choosing arts and characters to put on their poster and to convince other children from all over the world to come and visit them during the event. So the question could be: You have to prepare and promote "Ravenna Children Festival", Who do you put on the poster? Which sentence will you choose? Which places in Ravenna will you choose as performing places? Why? Each group will choose the way to promote the event and the final product. I'll use a CLIL approach and ask them to communicate in English. Most of the subjects will be involved such as Italian, English, History, Social Studies, Geography, Religion, Maths, Music, Art...

My proposal is to divide my class of 23 children in 8 groups as we have 8 iPads to use and each group will be composed of three children, in my opinion the right number to work properly. As they are very young ( 9-10 years pf age), as first step I'll ask them to individually think about a famous person to connect with our town. This choice will determine the " happy match".

As Collaboration Tool I'll propose to choose Popplet, a tool to build mind maps and to easily share them, also online. We'll start and build a map where to collect, as brain storming, our first ideas and our draft copy of what will be our very end product ( a poster and a leaflet of the event)

Groups: done! Each group has to work on a character and on a connected place in Ravenna. There's a significant sentence to choose and combine with the chosen character. With the whole class we'll prepare a grid to follow in order to collect useful information for the end product. It will prevent them not to waste their time. The end product will be a poster, a leaflet and a page of our wiki dedicated to the event.

Children in groups will collect all the information ( files, pictures, websites, maps...) about their favorite famous person performing in Ravenna using Blendspace: https://www.tes.com/lessons/dashboard This is an example on Malala: https://www.tes.com/lessons/iF5gkzd_F5oTpw/edit Each collection will have a link or a QR code to share. The QR will be positioned on the Thinglink map.

Each group presents the work done. All the class have to assess the process and the result. These are some driving questions they can ask: Am I reading this correctly? What I think works really well is... What I worry about is... Maybe this part would work better if you...
