Günter Blümlein passed away fifteen years ago today, and our friend Peter Chong – the internationally known Lange collector and historian (among other things) – has put together a biography of this remarkable individual. It's not too much to say that without Blümlein, modern watchmaking would look very different.The Databank represents the primordial movements of the smartwatch. While Casio designers were not alone in cramming additional features into then-cutting-edge digital watches, they brought this futurism to the masses. Today, we take an Apple Watch, a Garmin, or even a Fitbit for granted as a modern expression of a watch. I think it's great that Tudor is including this on more of their bracelets – and even better that it's now available on the available rubber strap.
