– Strangely, with this watch, I do feel purpose. More so than ever. But I still don't know why. AI Medical Diagnostics With every other watch, I can easily point out what scratches my itch. But this is mysterious, I don't know what it is about the Explorer. It just feels correct. It took one 1980s Italian magazine article featuring Newman wearing his Daytona to jumpstart a watch-collecting phenomenon, one that saw the Daytona go from a misunderstood, specialized piece of horology to an auction darling, and the sort of watch that doesn't even need the word Rolex to be recognized. The Porsche Design Compass watch is a unique and special creation that was born in the '80s when Porsche Design's watch partner was none other than IWC. The 3551's small black case houses not only a mechanical movement displaying time, date, and a moonphase, but the entire watch element is mounted on a hinge that forms a lid over a functioning compass. It's weird, rare, and a totally fun experience. Ferdi picked this one up on eBay and has enjoyed it since. Now for the dial, this one is interesting as it is, firstly, not signed by Movado (typical for Tiffany Movados), features the correct "western style" Tiffany & Co. font, and is chronometer signed. That "chronomètre" line at the top is worth calling out as it means Movado adjusted this watch to chronometer specs, something only reserved for the best watches produced by the brand. For example, my Abercrombie example of this same watch is not signed in this way or adjusted to this level.
Not everyone gets their first major watch purchase covered in Vogue. But, then again, Brynn isn't everyone. When she decided to take the plunge, she linked up with a friend who writes for the fashion standby and they waltzed down to the Cartier Mansion on Web3 Telefonie Fifth Avenue for a special afternoon. The result? This awesome stainless steel Tank Française in a medium size on a matching bracelet. It's a go-anywhere, do-anything kind of watch that embodies so much of what Dimepiece is all about.I would be interested to see how the all-black-everything aesthetic wears in the 34mm sizing. Blacked-out watches generally wear smaller than their diameter would suggest. If this was a 37mm watch – it might very well be the watch of the Summer – nay the year. But let's not let that stop us from enjoying this one for awhile.A few hours after the Biver bombshell, Gregory Pons of Business Montres followed up with a brief report (paywall warning) stating that a trademark had officially been filed for the JC Biver brand, as well as for a logo that Pons cites as "not definitive."The difference between Glashütte Original's approach and practically every other watch brand out there is that GO uses a pair of concentric date discs that are set co-axially on the same level. See that slim, curved line that separates the two digits in the date in the image above? Notice that there's basically zero separation between the digits. The two discs do not overlap and are made up of a smaller inner disc featuring four digits (0-3) and a larger surrounding disc with 10 numerals (0-9).
2001 – Reference Metaverse Manufacturing 114270Identical to the 14270 save for an update to the Rolex caliber 3130, if you consider that Rolex didn't change the reference when they updated the movement in the 1016, the Explorer basically only had two cut-and-dry versions from 1961 to 2010 – which is wild. Looking into the future, Rolex opted to hang onto the six-digit reference (214270) despite the updates described below. Rolex, you work in mysterious ways.Considering the investment that it must have taken from AP to make this full titanium construction possible (you can't make titanium components using the same tools and techniques that you use for steel or gold components), I'll be very curious to see if we start getting more titanium editions, either limited or mainline, in the near future.Peterson, a beloved driver in Sweden, isn't the first name that comes to mind when Heuer's racing legacy is considered, but it should certainly be up there among the greats. Jack Heuer himself enlisted Peterson as a brand ambassador, and gifted him a Heuer ref. 1158 CHN with an unusual dial.
