Six new cases of COVID-19 in Sask.; active cases drop to 133

Saskatchewan reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, including two in the Saskatoon zone and three in the Regina zone.

There were 19 more recoveries reported, bringing the total number of active cases down to 133 across Saskatchewan.

The majority of active cases, 78, are in the Saskatoon area. There are 26 active cases in the Regina area. All other regions have single-digit case numbers.

The six new cases reported on Wednesday are the lowest number since Sept. 10, when case numbers began creeping up again after several weeks of mostly single-digit numbers.

As of Wednesday, there were nine people in hospital for reasons related to COVID-19, including one person in intensive care.

The province did not report how many of the cases were in communal living settings, saying the numbers are now too low to report separately.

There have been 1,830 cases of COVID-19 in total since infections began coming to Saskatchewan. Currently, 276 of the cases are travellers, 901 are community contacts, 532 had know known exposures and 121 are still under investigation by public health.
