Read Watch Listen1520In order to introduce the topic Natural Disasters, the teacher shows a video. After showing the video, the teacher asks: - What did you see in the video? - What natural disasters is the video about? - What kind of destruction did these disasters bring to the US? Meanwhile, some words/phrases will be explained or translated to Portuguese.

Investigate2520After the introduction, pupils are asked to understand and research information about the disasters. They are divided into 3 different groups (2 groups of 7 members and 1 group of 6 members). Each group will have to read the links provided and write down the most important information. For that, they should consider answering question like: E.g. - What is an Earthquake? / What is a Tsunami? - How does it happen? - When does it happen? - What can we do protect ourselves? - What can be done to overcome possible a possible disaster?

Discuss1520New groups are formed. Pupils are asked to join a different a group in order to provide information they have gathered before. They should ask / answer any questions they might have and the answers should be provided by their colleagues.
