SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The current number of confirmed cases of mumps at Syracuse University has risen now to 24, health officials reported Monday. The number of probable cases is now 26.
SU Health Services previously reported on Friday that 22 cases of the virus had been confirmed and that there were 19 probable cases. Now, the number of confirmed cases have increased by ten in just the past week.

Last week, SU officials called the recent rash of cases at the university an "outbreak." The majority of cases affect members of the university's lacrosse team, which has been shut down for the semester.
Students diagnosed have been isolated and the university has made arrangements to educate them.
