With their usual event catering business down 90 per cent since COVID-19 hit Saskatchewan, the Reinhardts are eager for food truck weather.
“Our normal bread and butter business in Regina is event catering and that’s completely evaporated 100 per cent for the next two or three months going forward,” said Rob Reinhardt in a recent interview. “The food truck is going to be our stop gap to allow us to bring enough money in to cover our bills.”

Reinhardt owns Prairie Smoke & Spice BBQ, a special event catering business and food truck, with his wife Jacy. Now that food truck-friendly weather is well on its way, the couple is getting ready to hit the streets COVID-19 style, which means special signage and steel plate markers on the ground to ensure physical distancing is achieved.
It’s the new reality for food trucks because even as the province rolls out its Re-Open Saskatchewan five-phase plan, the need for social distancing whenever possible will remain for the foreseeable future.
