Size of class
19 st (aged between 14 and 18). They are in a vocational course of Ceramics and failed 3 or more school years. In general they are demotivated for learning and miss school a lot.
Description
These lessons will be part of a Module of the English class. Contents are chosen by the teacher as there is no students book or guided programme. The aim is to teach students basic English and motivate them through themes, music and games without much grammar or linguistic aims. The final goal is to keep them at school! In this module we will talk about how people use the internet, watch a video about online safety and read about staying safe online. Students do speaking/listening/reading activities based on the materials presented by the teacher, and will collaboratively build posters with their top tips for staying safe online (storyboardthat/ Canva...).

-To increase student knowledge of Internet safety -To aid the student in identifying dangers on the Internet -To build critical-thinking and decision-making skills relating to computer usage -To help students protect themselves from inappropriate behavior online -To develop students’reading and listening skills -To raise awareness of Safer Internet Day (4th February)

    - Students are divided in 5 groups of four (this activity has to be done in groups as not all students have access to internet on their mobiles / one mobile in each group). - In group they answer to the kahoot quiz (time to answer is longer than usual as they have to agree with an aswer as a group)

Notes:
Groups that decide to use storyboardthat will have teacher's help as this is the 1st time they will produce sth with this tool, altough they have already buit one last year with teacher led. This year they all have already produced posters using Canva tool, so they are already familiar with it.
