This year was my very first Baselworld, and it was incredible. Despite being jet-lagged and hungry most of the time, the rush of running around and seeing all the new releases was really invigorating. We met with numerous brands from Rolex to Ressence and everything in between, all

Here are my top five favorite watches from Baselworld 2016.As with past examples of the form, the white gold Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin houses the brand's very complicated caliber 1120 QPSQ/1 movement. Automatically wound and tracking hours, minutes, moon-phase, and a complete perpetual calendar (date, day, month, leap year), the 1120 is just 4.05mm thick. Despite that, this Hallmark of Geneva certified movement contains 276 parts supporting a 40-hour power reserve while running at 2.75 Hz.Intended as a sort of modern take on Tudor's first dive watch (the reference 7922 of, you guessed it, the year 1954), the new Black By 54 (which goes by reference 79000) follows the downsizing pattern we've seen applied to the Black Bay line over the past few years, going from 41mm to 39 in the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, and now 37mm for the Black Bay 54.

The result of Tudor's work in creating their own movement back in 2015, Kenissi was launched in 2016 as a subsidiary of Tudor that manufactures and assembles movement not only for Tudor (duh), but also Chanel (who owns a piece of the Kenissi business), Breitling, TAG Heuer, Norqain, and others. That being said, Kenissi is Tudor.Last week, Richard Mille released the new RM 30-01 Automatic with a declutchable rotor. A successor to the RM030, this watch comes in two case variations and features a whole lot in terms of specs, so let's begin the rundown.

Where there's a market, there's someone there to serve it. Read on to learn how these two retailers are doing just that.Even the crystal is over-engineered. It has sloping sides that curve downward to the outer edges of the case to the middle, resulting in the watch not having a conventional bezel. This effect, in turn, takes four to five times more material to effectuate. Conversely, the tourbillon is surprisingly minimal in construction (comprised of 79 parts) and therefore quite light, weighing in at .25 grams. This contributes to the movement – the GP09400-1273 – offering 60 hours of power reserve.
