– The first is a system called Rolex Glidelock. This allows the wearer to adjust the bracelet from the clasp, at 2mm intervals, all the way up to 20mm. The second system, which is particular to Rolex dive watches, is called a Fliplock link, and this quickly extends the whole length of the bracelet by 27mm! Don't quite understand how this works? Fear not, we've created a gif for you.The Chronomaster has aged AI Medical Diagnostics wonderfully. The "De Luca" dial is delightfully retro, while the ceramic bezel keeps us firmly planted in the modern day. The steel case echoes the shapes and proportions of classic chronographs, yet is replete with the fine tolerance and high finishing of modern manufacturing. Tune in to today's Spec Sheet and give a listen to the Zenith Chronomaster Sport. What I appreciate most about Chopard and this watch in particular is the way in which the whole piece really seems to be fully thought out from aesthetics to mechanics. This movement was first developed in 2022 and the crown-integrated pusher and the ability for the wearer to arm or disarm the chime function via the crown is an innovation for sure.
This new edition of the Laurent Ferrier Galet Classic Tourbillon is priced at $208,000. We'll have hands-on photos and more details later this week, so stay tuned. For more, visit Laurent Ferrier online.I was going to stick to five watches, but every Underground Tech time I looked through my long list I kept coming back to Hamilton's release from earlier this year, an asymmetrically-cased manually-wound vintage-inspired multi-hyphenate of a great watch, coming in at just a hair over $2,000.On the wrist, with the compact pushers, this wears exactly how you would want a watch like this to wear: just right. And the choice of pairing the watch with the black racing-style leather strap only enhances the high-contrast look of the panda dial. I'm a sucker for this kind of chronograph by nature, but I still think TAG Heuer did a really nice job with this recreation of sorts. It's only a 600-piece limited edition, and I have a suspicion it won't be around too long.I love Urwerk. They make the meanest-looking versions of the futuristic watches I already have a soft spot for. Whether it's Urwerk, MB&F, or a few others, none of them come cheap. But they're also not just sitting around and making the same thing over and over again, either. So it's an exciting day when they have an awesome new watch. I'm just bummed I'm going to have to wait a while to see it.
The watch pays direct homage to the Rescue Rehab vintage Heuer reference 2447, sharing most of its styling including a domed sapphire crystal. Adding to the vintage effect is the use of faux patina on the lume plots and the hands. The lume plots are applied above each of the similarly retro-evocative polished hour markers. We're witnessing a new trend emerge this year of watch companies auctioning off specific, highly-limited watches in order to capture the additional press that comes from a high-performing sale. We first saw this tactic used by Audemars Piguet when a unique version of the Royal Oak Concept 'Black Panther' Flying Tourbillon sold for $5.2 million in April 2021 – setting the record for an Audemars Piguet watch at auction, and benefiting a pair of children's charities in the process. The highlight for lovers of vintage chronographs out of this trio has to be the 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph Red Arrow LE88, a limited edition of 88 watches that reference early aviation chronographs produced by Minerva in the 1920s and '30s. Minerva introduced a watch in 1927 with a fluted bezel and an internal countdown rotating bezel, following it close to a decade later, in 1939, with its first wristwatch chronograph outfitted with an external rotating bezel and reset functionality. The comment: "What do you think about the hour markers, James Stacey? How would you compare them to the markers on Tudor's other pieces, like the BB58? From a visual perspective, I think that I prefer the BB58 markers." - KevinVanderVeen
